Mesmerized this morning by this delightful mix of 2D and 3D digital-style animation.
My name is Taylor Cox. I'm a freelance motion designer living in Denver, CO. This blog is a dumping ground for some of the things I do and think about in my spare time. Which, as it turns out, is primarily more design, photography, technology, old video games, and movies.

Daily Design 12.3.11: “Unfocused”
Today, I tried to break my designer’s block. I sat down at my computer, opened Cinema4D/After Effects/Photoshop, and tried to make something.
This is the resulting design vomit.
The Amazing Animation That Wasn’t
Failure is part of life– and an essential part of art. It stinks. But it is to be accepted and learned from.
This title package, which was planned for this Sunday’s sermon, was the fruit of countless hours of brainstorming, modeling, and animation (not to mention 80+ hours of rendering).
However, despite all of its eye candy, the idea just didn’t land. So the project was trashed in the 11th hour. I would say the whole ordeal infuriates me (and it did for a little while), but the truth is that I learned loads by experimenting with new techniques and new (to me) types of animation. Some later project will bear that fruit.

Finally launching this Sunday. More later…
David Robertson was kind enough to detail the creative process behind the “Amazing Stories” title package on the North Point Media blog. I would say it’s a good read, but that sounds self-serving.
(But it’s a good read.)
